Onward and Upward

It's a new year. A new leaf has turned, a fresh start has come. For many it is a time of great hope and anticipation. For others, it's far from anything hopeful. Rather, it's a time of despair. Another chance to fail at moving forward with goals, resolutions and expectations for life.

As Christians, we are to be people of great hope. In fact, hope is to be one of the key elements of our faith, essential to everything we do and driving our lives in a very real, tangible way. Without a vision of what is in store we can have no hope. Without that hope, we can have no true life, much less the abundant life that Jesus has promised us. So, as we begin a new year, let's pray, plan and expect God to give us a vision that is so grand that we couldn't come up with it or pull it off on our own, leaving us to fully rely on his strength, his grace and his faithfulness.
